Around Mumbai

Early in the morning I went to the Gateway of India, one of the main tourist points in Mumbai, to catch my boat for Elephanta island.

After an hour, we arrived to an Hindu temple built in the VIII century inside the mountain. They took 300 hundred years to dig the cave and mold the columns and figures. It’s just all one piece and was built mainly for Shiva, god of destruction.

After an experimental lunch, we went to the house where Gandhi lived in Mumbai, to see an open air laundry service in the city, around Mumbai University, to a Janu temple, to the Victoria station where everyday 3 million people catch their train, to a hanging garden and finally to see the sunset in one of the city’s most expensive neighborhood marina.

It’s a shame there are no pictures with smells, because Mumbai is a city for the nose.
